Password Vs PIN lock Vs pattern Vs Finger print unlock Vs Face recognition..Which is the best to unlock your device?

There are many ways to unlock your smart phone. They are:

1) Pattern 2) Password/PIN 3) Finger print 4) Face recognition

Many new devices are coming up with latest technologies like Iris scanner,Face recognition to unlock the phone. So let’s discuss each in detail.

1)Pattern Unlock :

The Pattern that you are going to set must be connected within the 9 dots. You need to connect atleast(minimum of) 4 dots among the given 9 dots on your screen. This minimum of 4 dots is set so as to strengthen the pattern lock of your phone. Drawing out the regular shapes like the triangle, rectangle, square or the first alphabet of your name is treated as a weak password for your phone and one can easily get access to your phone with just an easy guess.

Remember, the password you keep must be different and should not be guessed by anyone. A strong password must contain characters of a-z,A-z,0-9 and special symbols.

Most of us prefer putting up the pattern lock as their screen lock as it is much more easier to connect the dots. It’s slightly less secure than PIN Code/Password lock but still it is considered as one of the secure methods to protect your device.

2) PIN/Password lock :

The password or the PIN lock which you set should consists of atleast 4 characters and must be fewer than 17 characters long. Using these screen locks in public is little bit inconvenient as others may know your screen lock. If you unlock your phone several times in a day, it’s very tiresome to type in a PIN/Password every time.

DISADVANTAGES OF PASSWORD OR PATTERN LOCK:

1) One can easily look at your screen and remember it while unlocking your smart phone and may misuse your phone in your absence.

2) You may forget your password/PIN/Pattern unknowingly if you have set up a new password. So, at that time unlocking your phone becomes a problem.

So, inorder to solve these ,here comes the new technologies like the finger print sensor and face unlock feature.

3) Finger print Screen lock :

It is the most popular Biometric technology and is he most reliable recognition system in the world. Many Institutions, Banks, Govt. and private organisations choose finger print technology as the most trusted system.

Each and every human-being is having a unique and different finger print. Even twins finger print doesnot match with one another. So, as this is unique , we can say it as the secure system.

DISADVANTAGES OF FINGER PRINT LOCK :

1) If the person’s finger is damaged or if it is completely lost unfortunately, we cannot use the finger print sensor. The finger print cannot be able to identify and unlock your phone if your fingers are dipped into some color and changed.

2) The Finger print cannot analyze in some cases like in dust environment or cloudy etc.

4) Face Recognition :

This feature uses the front-camera to identify you and unlock your device. It doesn’t require high-end cameras of mobile phones, tablets, etc. You just need to turn on your screen and show your face to the front camera of your phone. Your phone unlocks as soon as soon as it recognizes you.

DISADVANTAGES OF FACE RECOGNITION:

1) This Technology would not see the users face in a good light or poor light.

2) Any person’s face similar to your face can unlock your phone with this finger print technology.

3) Some can even able to trick your face unlock feature with a picture. Hence, proving its lack of security.

4) It is a time taking process to unlock your phone as you need to hold your phone at eye level in a right position.

5) Face Recognition system can be confused in case of twins.

6) If you are in a bright day light or at nights due to the dark light, your phone cannot identify your face so that face recognition may be difficult.

Iris Scanner :

This Iris Scanner is the upcoming technology and scans both the eyes. It is the most secure form. You need to hold your phone in the right position infront of your face to scan your eyes. It is similar to face recognition feature. It doesn’t work well in the bright light. This feature is not available in all the phones. It’s offered in few phones like Note 8 and the Samsung Galaxy S9.

Conclusion :

From the above information, every recognition systems has its own advantages and disadvantages. Nothing is completely secure. So, each has its own importance in different areas and situations. According to me the Finger print unlocking awakens(unlocks) the screen faster with just a tap and is secure and unique. So, what would you prefer?
